Intensive Outpatient Program

Did you know that i-Kare Treatment Center provides comprehensive and accessible opioid and alcohol intensive outpatient treatment for those who are dealing with addiction? Our comprehensive outpatient program also offers sober living residences in the area. At i-Kare Treatment Center, we provide a variety of successful treatment options, but IOP is one of the most common. During intensive outpatient care at i-Kare Treatment Center, everyone can get the support they need thanks to specially qualified addiction counsellors.

What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

An Intensive Outpatient Program, or IOP, is a rehabilitation program that combines the benefits of inpatient treatment with the ability for patients to return home to their familiar surroundings at the end of the day. Patients should plan to work on their IOP for 10 to 20 hours a week and visit their care facility three to four times a week. The amount of time spent on an IOP is what makes it “intensive,” but patients benefit from being able to spend the rest of the week with family and loved ones. IOPs are also suitable for individuals who need an intensive program but can’t commit to a residential program due to work or school obligations.

IOPs are most effective for people who have a secure and healthy home atmosphere that does not exacerbate their mental health problems. If a patient enters an IOP to address an addiction issue, but then returns home to a family that engages in the same addictive habits, an IOP may not be the best option for them. Residential care may be required in these situations to ensure that the patient is not subjected to any stimuli during the healing process.

What Are Patients Required to Do?

Patients are required to attend group sessions at the facility at least three days a week and complete at least nine hours of group therapy. Clients are also required to attend an individual session with a licensed therapist, and are able to meet with a board-certified psychiatrist if they choose. Although our intensive outpatient program only requires patients to attend nine hours of group therapy, we strongly recommend that patients attend as many groups as possible.

Depending on the patient, our intensive outpatient programme will last anywhere from 3-6 months. Patients enrolled in our comprehensive rehabilitation programme have the option of staying in a local sober living facility or in their own homes. The choice is significant because it allows patients to heal in a setting that is most comfortable and safe for them. Knowing you’re doing the right thing is crucial for rehabilitation, and giving patients a choice gives them a sense of control over their lives.

What IOP Addresses?

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) can help with a variety of mental health issues, including:

Patients with co-occurring mental health problems, such as depression and drug abuse, can benefit from an IOP. When the patient does not need 24-hour supervision or detoxification, IOP is most successful. Despite the fact that their mental health conditions are milder in certain ways, these patients nevertheless need extensive clinical interventions. Owing to life’s unexpected events, patients will still need to keep a normal daily schedule. Patients transitioning from a residential or inpatient facility may use an IOP as a transfer point.

Road to A Better Health and Wellness

IOP is also a good choice for patients who are eager to start their path to better health and wellness. This form of program necessitates a significant amount of effort on the part of the patient, who may engage in both individual and group therapy. If doctors overseeing a patient’s involvement believe he or she requires additional supervision or assistance, they can suggest an inpatient option.

Patients meet with one of our licensed therapists when they first begin treatment to receive a psychiatric evaluation, a substance and alcohol evaluation, and an individualized treatment plan. Throughout their rehabilitation, we urge patients to update their care plan and make any required improvements. Both patients can have private therapy sessions with an assigned therapist on a weekly or biweekly basis.

To treat the root problems and habits of addiction, our therapists combine cutting-edge treatment techniques with tried-and-true techniques. These programs are structured to not only help people overcome a severe addiction problem, but also to teach them the skills they’ll need to stay sober in the long run.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment: What to Expect

Patients who take part in an IOP spend part of the day going about their daily lives at work, with their families, or at school. After that, the patient goes to their IOP treatment facility to engage in community and individual therapies, as well as education courses for their mental health condition. 12-step-style community sessions can be included in IOPs for drug abuse. To maintain consistency and cohesion in their at-home support system, some patients can also engage in family therapy sessions with their loved ones.
